The Scotty Series

Christina had been married for three years, and she and her husband Brett lived in Manahattan, Kansas while Brett served in the U.S.Army, stationed at Fort Riley.

When Christina called home and announced her pregnancy, everyone was excite. Of course, I ordered a girl!

As the weeks passed, the ultra sounds all said 'we' were having a girl, and I was thrilled. Christina and I spent hours on the phone discussing names. I'd already selected the one I wanted -- Karessa Rinae. But, Christina and Brett liked Ashley Nicole, so the debate was on!

"She's my baby, Mom, so I pick the name," Christina would tell me at every opportunity. I always had the same come back .... "Yeah, but she's my grandbaby so I should get to pick her name!"

"Probably end up having a dozen names, before we're through," I told Mike one evening after talking to Christina.

On August 17, 1988, Christina gave birth to a beautiful, blond haired, blue eyed BOY, and we called him Joshua!!

When Joshua was four days old my husband and I, accompanied by my mother and Brett's father, left for Manahattan, Kansas. We were off to see the 'boy, the wonderful boy of Oz!'

Our trip was uneventful until the last one hundred miles or so of Illinois.

A couple of times, as I glanced out the window, I'd caught a glimpse of something ... Scotty crossed my mind ... I told myself I was being rediculous.

Then, my mother bagan asking questions about 'my UFO,' that I'd told her about, but that she had never seen.

Apparently Mom had good reason for her curiosity, because whatever I'd caught a glimpse of from time to time, Mom had noticed too!

Up until now .... even though I'd seen this craft on several ocassions .... I still only half believed it was something really unusual or 'supernatural.'

Somehow, deep down, I had believed {or wanted to believe} it was a U.S. spy plane or sophisticated drug detection plane .... so why was it hanging around me? I'd asked my self that question every time I'd tried to convince myself it was a 'spy' plane. What did I ever do or have in my possession that would merrit such action from the government? I'd never done a drug of any kind in my entire life. I remained one of the few people that I knew of that grew up in the 'rippin 60's' that had never even tried marijuana! Why would a reconisance plane be following me around?

As we approached the mighty Mississippi, Scotty appeared out of nowhere! There was no mistaking him. It was as if he was boldly proclaiming his existance!

"Here he comes and he's flying low," I exclaimed as I saw him coming from my side of the van.

He came in fast and low and everyone of us saw him!

And, as we watched Scotty sail out of sight, we all saw something else that night that I will never forget, and that my mother never forgot. She talked about it until her dying day....

Scotty had appeared to be a large ship ... at least to my way of thinking, but that night, as we looked back as we crossed into Missouri, I suddenly realized how small Scotty is --- compared to what was 'sitting' several hundred feet above the Mississippi River.

There, in the sky, sat the largest 'space ship' that I could have ever imagined! It was round and appeared to be several stories tall, with lighted portholes {windows} all around. This thing was absolutely huge, and sileuetted against the August sky, it looked like a city sitting above the river! I will never forget it.

The 'mother ship' or 'city in the sky ship' remained visible for several minutes as we continued to drive. Since Mike was driving, he didn't get as good a look at it as what the rest of us did, but even he saw it, and kept adjusting the rear view mirror and trying to watch it as we drove away from the area.

Meanwhile, Scotty continued to tag along with us as we went to see Joshua, and we all caught momentary glimpses of him frm time to time.

When we arrived at Christina's house, we told her about Scotty coming along with us, and about the huge craft we'd seen over the Mississippi River, but she didn't pay too much attention to our story because she had something much more exciting and interesting. She had Joshua .... and what a delight he was {and remains to this day.}

Two weeks after we returned from Kansas, Christina called one night to tell me that she'd like for me to come back to Kansas and 'get Scotty,' because he had apparently remained behind with her!

Several of her friends and neighbors had noticed the craft and mentioned it to her. I guess she told them to pay no attention to it because it was just a weird space ship that followed her weird mother around and as soon as it realized her mother had left Kansas it would bust butt back to Ohio after her!

I walked out on the deck that night ... faced west .... and called Scotty home!

2010 Update:

Joshua is now grown and will be 22 years old this coming August. Scotty remains a part of all our lives, as we have seen him many, many times as the years have gone by.

His most recent sightings have been down in Jackson, Ohio where he's been spotted by my friend Sindee Davis and her mother Shirley. Other accounts have placed him in the Cleveland, Ohio area, and although I do have a cousin that lives in that area, I have received no accounts from her or anyone that I know personally.

Even so, I have copied some of the sighting accounts and placed them on my new page .... The Strange, Unusual & Unexplained Series ... and a link is provided to that page at the end of this one.

Even though I was still very interested in Scotty, by 1990 something else had attracted my attention .... local homicide. By that time we had Marie Blough and Terri Roach who had been murdered and there were no suspects. Little did I ever dream that 20 years later I would be sitting here writing up this old story, and have to report that I am still working homicide cases, still tracking Scotty, and still have no real answers for either one. Terry and Marie's cases remain unsolved. There are still no suspects in either case .... well, there is one, but I guess he doesn't count because he's the one that I found ... or perhaps I should say, the one that found me.

Anyway, back in 1991 I ran a couple of columns in a small, weekly news paper. One was called 'The Strange' while the other was called 'On The Wild Side.' The Strange dealt with things such as Scotty, while the Wild Side column dealt with animals and wildlife in our area.

My Scotty Series was published in this news paper back in 1991.

The man who was destined to become my suspect in the unsolved murder cases {and dozens since then} was my friend in 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993 and into March of 1994.

He was always the first person to go out and get a copy {or several copies} of each issue of the news paper where my columns were published. And he read each and every story several times, and would always compliment me on the story.

He too had an interest in 'Scotty,' because he too had been with me at one point when I saw Scotty. And I will get to that story shortly, but for now, I want to continue with this train of thought ....

In those early days of our friendship I did not suspect 'Wild Bill' of being a killer. He was simply my friend .... and a friend of my entire family, and most fo my other friends. He was not someone that any of us had any reason to suspect of anything illegal or perverted. Those suspicions would come later, and would increase immensly after we parted ways and I began to look at the ever increasing number of unsolved murder cases, and began to see a pattern within the cases that apparently no one else could see or was even willing to acknowledge even after I showed it to them. That's why I eventually asked my friend Judy to help me build a web site. I needed a way to communicate with the common person, so they would know that someone cared and someone had been {and continued} to work on cold cases that no one else seemed interested in.

What I'm going to say here has been told several times on other pages on my web site, but I also felt it was important enough to list on this page too.

As I said, Wild Bill read and re-read every story/article that I wrote for that old paper, and he kept copies of every paper that had one of my stories in it. In fact he kept several copies of each one!

Granted, I kept a copy of each one myself, but I was the author. My copies have been packed away for years.

By 1994 I was just starting to consider the 'duplication or replacement theory,' and have to admit, it seemed far fetched even to me in the beginning. But, by 1995 I was convinced that something weird was happening .... and I didn't see how it could be 'coincidental,' ... or at least how all of it could be coincidental.

I'd already noticed how much Terri Roach resembled my daughter when Christina had been her age. And I'd already said I thought it was extremely odd that Christina had worked at Elby's Resturant when she was 18, and Terri was working there when she disappeared at the age of 18. This seemed very strange to me.

Then when Patsy Sparks disappeared, and I discovered she was a distant cousin to Terri Roach, I thought that was odd. No one else seemed to think anything about it though so I let it rest until Kimberly Fulton was murdered in 1995. That's when I said there had to be something awfully strange going on because between the two murder victims - Patsy Sparks and Kimberly Fulton - we had my sister's full name -- Patty Fulton. They said 'coincidence,' but I just didn't think so. I remembered how eager Wild Bill had been to meet my entire family and all my friends. I remembered how he always asked when their birthdays were, and then wrote them on his calander so he wouldn't forget them. And he didn't forget them either. He was always the first to say.... "Your mom's birthday is coming up in a few days, are we going to take her out for dinner?" He did this with my friends too, and didn'tcare how many of us got together to go out to dinner, a movie, whatever . just as long as he got to go too!

As the years have gone by there have been at least 2 dozen women murdered who either had the first name or the last name of someone in my family or among my friends. There have also been another dozen or so murdered that have had birthdates in common with my family or friends ... for example, a woman might disappear [or be murdered] on my mother's birthday, or my sister's, my friend Sindee's or Judy's, etc.

Eventually, the names and birthday dates swung out wide enough to include most of the women in Wild Bill's life ... including his own sister, his former girlfriends, his mother, etc. and it was at this point that I realized there were just too many to be coincidence. Wat too many.

Most of the cases have not been solved. Many people have people of interest - but I have a suspect, and I know why and how he's doing it, which is something law enforcement is NEVER going to get figured out, and when he's caught and he starts to brag and tell them his reason and rhyme, I just don't know what they are going to do. But I know exactly what I'm going to do ....

Anyway, Wild Bill read all my stories .... the Scotty Series included .... and kept copies of all of them for 'future reference,' I suppose.

I watched several of those stories 'acted out' in 1996, and they are told on my web site in various monthly pages, but today, I'm going to mention another case ..... a case that I have had posted for some time now, but a case that even I did not see and realize the importance of or the connection to until I started writing the Scotty Series and posting it on my web site .... in fact, I didn't see it until I hit this story....

That case is the July 9th, 1997 disappearance of Ashley Nicole Summers, and I will provide a link over to that page.

Like I said, until I started writing this page, I never made the 'connection to me, or my daughter' in the disappearance of the Summers girl.

In fact, I decided to write up my Scotty series so I could take a break from homicide and politics for awhile. Not that I'm getting burnt out on either one, but still, I sometimes need a break. I guess it's just not allowed. No matter what I'm doing -- or think I'm doing -- I'm going to work homicide, whether I want to or not.

Okay, I give up .... but I do intend to post the rest of my Scotty Series stories!

Sincerely,

Bonnie M. Wells
