How and where I spent last night!
And - What A Night It Was!

Shoshone went into labor in the late afternoon of May 3rd, 2010, and came and told me that she wanted back in 'her' winter pen.
I moved Sophie {the dog] out of the pen area, and started spreading fresh straw.
Shoshone laid in her bed for awhile but soon became restless, and eventually I opened the basement door so she could go in there if she wanted to.
The first 'kid' was born at 2.10 a.m. on May 4th .... a brown, black and white female.
The little black and white boy didn't arrive until 3.47 a.m.
Shoshone did little more than push, and there were times that I was helping her do that!
I'd never delivered a goat before, but there I was, in my pajamas, out in the pen with blankets, towels and spot lights .... ready and waiting. And it's a good thing that I was there because Shoshone acted as if she knew absolutely nothing about anything that was going on!
By 4 a.m I'd managed to pin Shoshone down long enough for the little girl to get a few sips of milk, and I was still working on the little boy and trying to get him cleaned up.
Shoshone would not let him nurse at all, and eventually decided neither one was going to touch her!
By 5 a.m. everyone was locked inside the basement with heat lamps and the heater turned back on so they wouldn't get chilled. I was exhausted and came to the house for an hour or so of sleep. I got back up at 6:30 and went back to check on everyone. All were doing fine, except Shoshone still wasn't interested in feeding either kid!
Finally, in late afternoon I put out the calls for assistance! I needed help!
Joshua and his girlfriend Ashley came with bottle in hand,
and my friend Sue came with 2 bottles and canned milk!
Now the kids would eat!
Today, May 4th, is the birthday of a girl that was murdered back in 1990. Her name was Terri Lee Roach. She was 18 years old.
I became interested in our unsolved homicides because of Terri, and so, I think it is only fitting that these little ones, born on her birthday be named after her.
The little girl is Terri and the little boy is Lee.
I continue to work Terri's case - but occasionally, take out time to add to my collection of animals! Thank God I have the animals. Without them, my life would be nothing but frustration and disappointment, because in all these years I have never been successfull in getting anything done with the killer of Terri Roach .... but, I haven't given up, and doubt that I ever will.
Since I've spent 18 years on Terri's case, and since it is her birthday, I thought it only fitting to name the new arrivals after her.
Now, I have to go. It's feeding time again! Shoshone is getting a little better. Maybe she will eventually decide to take care of them. Doesn't matter to me. I raised her on a bottle and spoiled her rotten -- obviously -- that's probably what the problem is!
