Police Still Waiting On Davis Results:
By Diane Pottorff
POINT PLEASANT: — Officials in Point Pleasant and Charleston still do not know what killed a Point Pleasant woman, more than two weeks after her death.
Stephanie Davis, 25, was found in the living room of her home on Monroe Street April 26. Her death is being investigated as suspicious and her body was sent to the Medical Examiner’s office in Charleston for an autopsy.
Investigators with the Point Pleasant Police Department are at a standstill in the case as they wait for the results of the tests, according to Chief R.D. Spencer.
“These things take time,” Spencer said. “Justice is not swift.”
Spencer has been in contact with Davis’ family, who have been calling him to check on the progress of the case.
“The family has been hearing rumors about her death,” he said. “My job is on the facts, not rumors.”
He also said the police department has been following up on tips and leads but they are anxious to get the ruling of how Davis died.
“I hate to keep stirring things up, but once we get a ruling on her death, we will let everyone know,” Spencer said.

A Month Later, Cause Of Woman’s Death Still Unknown:
POINT PLEASANT
By Diane Pottorff
— It has been a month since Stephanie Davis died in her Point Pleasant home and law enforcement officials are still waiting for the results of her autopsy.
“We don’t know what to investigate until we have the report,” Morgan Damon, Mason County prosecuting attorney, said.
On the morning of April 26, dispatchers with the Mason County 911 received a call about a woman who was lying in her living room floor.
A neighbor had found Davis, 25, lying face down in the floor in her Monroe Street home.
Mason County Emergency Services and Point Pleasant Police responded to the address where emergency workers discovered that Davis was already dead.
Because her death was treated as suspicious and her time of death had not been determined, her body was taken to Charleston where an autopsy was performed. Fluids and tissue was collected and sent to the State Medical Examiner’s lab in South Charleston for toxicology. It takes about six to 12 weeks, depending on the backlog at the lab, for the results to return.
Investigating and determining the manner of death could take even longer.
While at the scene, investigators with the mobile forensic lab of the West Virginia State Police also collected evidence and helped with the processing of the scene.
Davis was a mother and worked as clerk at the Super America in Gallipolis, Ohio, and had worked as a clerk at the Speedway in Point Pleasant.
Morgan said that the time it is taking for the results to come back to Point Pleasant is normal.
“For our medical examiner’s office it is,” he said.
Once the police receive the results, they will proceed with their investigation. The path the investigation will follow will depend on what the test results will show, Morgan said.
“I am still waiting for the official report,” Point Pleasant Police Chief R.D. Spencer said. “This case is important to me.”
After he receives the results, Spencer wants to notify Davis’s family first, he said. Her family has been calling him and asking about the investigation,
Spencer said. After telling the family, Spencer said he will be releasing the information to the public.
Comments:
It's been more than a month now since Stephanie Davis was found dead in her Point Pleasant, West Virginia home. There's been nothing more said about her death.
I stand by my predictions. Nothing has changed. I don't anticipate any changes but do wonder if we will ever really know how Stephanie Davis actually died.

Family, Police Still Waiting On Autopsy:

By Diane Pottorff
It has been two months since Stephanie Davis died, and her family is still waiting for the autopsy report.
Family members of Davis are still frustrated that they still have not received the autopsy results of her death, which occurred April 26.
Chief R.D. Spencer of the Point Pleasant Police Department said he has received numerous telephone calls from family members and the media every day about the case.
“As soon as I know the results, I will be telling the family,” Spencer said. “After the family has been told, I will be issuing a press release with the results.”
Spencer said he still has not received the autopsy or toxicology reports from the West Virginia State Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston. He said he has been calling the office every day asking for the results.
At 7:15 a.m. on April 26, dispatchers with Mason County 911 received a call about a woman who was lying in the floor in the living room of a house on Monroe Street. A Mason County Emergency Medical Services unit was sent to the home, located at 2421 Monroe St., and was followed by members of the Point Pleasant Police Department.
Spencer would not comment about the cause of death, and only would say that it was being treated as suspicious.
Davis’ body was taken to the West Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston for an autopsy while members of the West Virginia State Police Crime Lab, who also responded with their mobile unit, began to collect evidence while Point Pleasant Police officers began to speak with family, friends and neighbors.

Davis Case Is Ruled Accidental Death, Now Closed:

By Diane Pottorff
After eight weeks of waiting, officers with the Point Pleasant Police Department received the autopsy report on Stephanie Davis.
Chief R.D. Spencer said he received the report Tuesday and another officer told the family the results that evening.
“This is what we have been waiting on,” Spencer said.
The report stated that Davis died as a result of a combined cocaine and methadone intoxication, Spencer said. No significant injuries were noted at a complete autopsy. Davis’ death has been ruled accidental.

Fluids and other samples were taken to the state’s lab in South Charleston. Testing usually takes about six to 12 weeks.
Comments:
Well, what can I say? Coincidence, I suppose. Of course, being the suspicious person that I am, I'd still like to know who the neighbor heard leaving Ms. Davis' home the morning she was found dead. Then again, perhaps it's better if we just drop that subject altogether, because that might be a lot like asking who the unconscious women were in the pictures Wild Bill showed to the other Bonnie, and asking how they became unconscious.... oh yeah, I remember now. He told Bonnie that he gave them booze and/or drugs until they passed out and then he raped them. Sounds like practice to me, but then everything the man does sounds strange to me..
I sincerely hope the authorities are right about Stephanie Davis' death because I understand that certain types of killers really don't like not getting credit for their work. Hope he doesn't have to repeat this one simply because no one would give credit where credit was due. Time will tell --- and then, so will I.
