Dear Ms. Wells,
Thank you for your emails.
I wanted to clarify something with you. As I was reading your response to one of the stories I wrote where you referenced "irresponsible reporting."
The text is referenced below from your Web site at: http://starlightinnerprizes.com/JudithPetty.htm.
"I have no idea why 'news people' change things after a day or so, but it seems to be the 'norm' every case. That's one reason I have chosen to copy and past entire news articles on many of my pages. I know after 24 hours the story is going to change. I've been watching it for years.
If the body that was found is in fact Judith Petty {and I'm going to say that it is ...... whether anyone else will say it or not} then there is no way the woman could have been 'dropped off' at the farm on Friday. The place burned to the ground on THURSDAY!!!
Why the sudden omission of Thursday?
Irresponsibile reporting serves no useful purpose, and will NEVER work with me. I am not the least bit confused about this case or any other case that is on my web site. I know my cases and I know my dates, times, places and names. {end of quotes from my page}
Wood County Sheriff officials and the Waverly Fire Department officials told me it was still unclear when the fire happened and that's what I reported.
It couldn't be confirmed that it happened Thursday so this is why I did not write it happened Thursday.
If you have any more information or tips I suggest you contact the officials handling the case.
Sincerely,
Leslie Cebula

And Now, To Once Again
Look At What Was Reported,
And At What {I} Said:

WTAP News // Feb 7, 2008
Reporter: Courtney Rochon
Wood County officials are looking for a woman who has been missing for a day.
Thursday, they were searching the scene of a fire for clues.
Crews were called out to the Petty family farm around 9:30 Thursday morning.

Reporter: ROGER ADKINS -- Investigators are attempting to determine if a fire Thursday is related to a missing-person case.

Reporter: Leslie Cebula
Officials couldn't confirm the day she may have been dropped off at the Petty family farm but said possibly Wednesday or Friday night but continued to search anyway.
"The fire was probably started Wednesday night," said Waverly Vol. Fire Department Chief Terry Hefner.
******************************************************
Okay, so now we all know who reported what -- or at least what some people think they reported -- but obviously didn't. Anyway, my question had absolutely NOTHING to do with when the fire started, and anyone who can read or write English knows damned well it didn't.
My question was -- and remains -- "If the fire departments responded to the fire on {THURSDAY} morning around 9:30 a.m., and the house had already burned to the ground --- and if Judith Petty was found in the remains of that fire -- [which she obviously was - on Saturday] -- then I asked, "How could the woman have been dropped off at the farm on FRIDAY?
Ms. Cebula's statement to me -- "Wood County Sheriff officials and the Waverly Fire Department officials told me it was still unclear when the fire happened and that's what I reported." -- is obviously not correct either, since {according to her own article} Waverly Vol. Fire Department Chief Terry Hefner told her that "The fire was probably started Wednesday night."
I don't care ... and have never cared {when} the fire started. Nor do I care {how} it started. Someone could have struck a match to the place; used a lighter; threw a fire bomb on it or rubbed sticks together, for all I care.
What I was interested in {and yes, I did say WAS} was {WHO}. Who picked Judith Petty up from the bar {as reported by Leslie Cebula } -- " "I was told that they had information that somebody had took her home from a local club. Someone that was traveling and had actually seen her and picked her up and dropped her off at that residence," said Sgt. Dave Westfall, Wood County Sheriff's Dept." "
I repeat: WHO picked this woman up? WHO took her to the family farm?
Why hasn't the person come forward, provided it was an 'innocent' act on their part?
Was Judith Petty already dead when the fire was started? Was she unconscious?
How did the person who took her to the family farm know where it was located? Did Judith direct them into it?
Again I ask --- WHO was this mysterious person?
And now I must ask .....
Why did it take from February 7th until April 23rd for someone to pick apart everything I said, and still only come up with such a trivial excuse for disdain, when in fact, it wasn't the issue in the first place.
Well, as the song says .......
"Word gets around in a small, small town,"
