Jerry Denney

The Telegram News: 46-year-old Jerry Denney of 200 Morton Street, Jackson was found sitting at the kitchen table on September 19th, 2008. Authorities believe he had been dead for several days and that the condition of the body suggested foul play,
Jackson County Sheriff John Shasteen says his office is investigating his death as a homicide.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (OBCI) was on the scene as was the Jackson County Coroner Dr. Greg Hawker.
The Jackson County Times-Journal 9-23-08: The body of Denney was discovered in his apartment, located at 200 Morton Street in Jackson, by his father, Jerry Denney Sr., Friday morning. Apparently the father had been unable to reach his son and became concerned, so he got the key from the landlord to enter the premises.
He discovered his son’s body sitting at the kitchen table with apparent blunt force trauma injuries to the head. The murder weapon was also discovered at the scene

The recent death of Jackson area resident Jerry Denney, Jr. has officially been ruled as a homicide and authorities say multiple hits from a hammer were used to carry out his extremely violent murder.
Jackson County Coroner Dr. Greg Hawker reported Monday afternoon, that based on preliminary autopsy results he had just received, that the 45-year-old Denney was hit five times in the head with the claw end of a hammer while he was sitting at the kitchen table of his home at 200 Morton Street, just outside Jackson.
The claw of the hammer was still embedded in the right side of Denney's skull when his body was discovered by his father, Jerry Denney, Sr., late Friday morning. The elder Denney had gone to his son's home after becoming concerned because he had not seen nor heard from him for an extended time.
Meanwhile, Jackson County Sheriff John Shasteen indicated there has been progress in the investigation. He said that investigators have already conducted interviews in the case and there are "suspects."
Dr. Hawker officially described the cause of death as "penetrating head wounds" and "blunt trauma" to the head. The coroner added that Denney had five distinct holes and lacerations in his skull, any one of which might have been serious enough to cause his death.
"It appeared that someone was really angry," Dr. Hawker commented.
Dr. Hawker estimates the time of Denney's death as being sometime on Sunday. His body was already in an advanced stage of decomposition, which initially made it difficult to tell if he had suffered any other injuries. However, the preliminary results from the autopsy did not reveal any injuries other than those to his head.
Dr. Hawker also noted that there were two other clues at the scene that suggested a Sunday murder. Denney apparently had a daily habit of marking days off his calendar, but Sunday was not marked off. Also, the victim habitually closed his blinds at night and opened them each morning. The blinds were open when his body was discovered.
Sheriff Shasteen also noted there were no signs of a struggle in the house and there did not appear to be any forced entry.
Ohio BCI agents were on hand to process the crime scene last Friday and Shasteen is hopeful that there may be some DNA-related evidence left at the crime scene that will prove helpful.

Blaze Destroys Wellston Home

Investigator On The Scene
THE TELEGRAM | PO Box 667 Jackson OH 45640
Wellston city firefighters were called to a structure fire at {20} East {10}th Street at 5:56 a.m. on Tuesday, October {28}. {20 + 10 + 28 = 58: 5+8 = 13}
When they arrived on the scene at 6:02 a.m. and assessed the situation, mutual aid was immediately requested from Jackson, Coalton, and Hamden Fire Departments as well as Southeast Ohio Emergency Medical Services District.
The one-story residence was fully engulfed. Wellston sent 4 units and 12 firefighters to the blaze which was brought under control shortly after 7 a.m.
Preliminary reports indicate this was the home of the Kevin Denney family of five. No family members were home at the time of the fire. Reportedly, they were staying somewhere else due to possible electrical problems at the house.
Several dogs were at the residence. Dog Warden Roy Williams was called to assist in removing the dogs from the scene.
The roof of the structure, as seen in the photo, collapsed. While no value estimate, of either structure or contents, was available at press time, the residence was deemed to be a total loss.
Firefighters cleared the scene at 11:27 a.m. The State Fire Marshal's Office was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire. One Wellston Fire Department truck remained on scene while the investigation was conducted.

{BMW Comment: Dang Sindee -- tell me how I come up with all these names - which I obviously cannot say at this time, but you and Winstanley surely have seen them by now! How do I do this for all these damned 'coincidences?' Can ya tell me Sindee? How about you Winstanley? Anybody got an answer? By the way, October 28th is my first husband {Gary Gordon's} birthday. What a string of odd coincidences."

Wilson C. Bond
UPDATE:

The Telegram OnLine.Com:
Jackson Murder Victim
Was Shot Multiple Times, Autopsy Reveals
A Jackson man was found dead inside his house late Thursday {Oct. 2, 2008} afternoon and the situation is currently being treated as a murder.
The body of 64-year-old Wilson C. Bond of 57 Mound Street, Jackson, was discovered at about 5:06 p.m. Thursday by a newspaper carrier and a neighbor after the delivery person noticed the newspaper she had delivered on Saturday, as well as mail, were still on the porch of the residence.
Jackson Police were called as well as a SEOEMS squad, but it was quickly evident that Mr. Bond had been dead for some time. Investigating officers feel Bond had been dead for a period of 3-7 days and Jackson County Coroner Dr. Greg Hawker estimates Bond had been dead for "about a week."
An autopsy will be done by the Franklin County Coroner's Office to determine the cause of death and when it occurred. Preliminary results were expected before the end of Friday, but had not been reported as of 5 p.m.
Because of decomposition, investigators were not able to make reliable determinations about possible injuries and wounds to Bond's body. The autopsy will likely shed some concrete answers.
At this point, police have not disclosed any other details about what was found at the scene or the possible cause of death, but the Ohio BCI was summoned and investigators spent more than nine hours processing the scene at Bond's home and gathering possible evidence.
Dr. Hawker said there was "suspicious and mysterious evidence" gathered, but did not elaborate.
In a press release issued this morning, Jackson Police Chief Carl Eisnaugle wrote, "The cause of death is not known and is being treated as a homicide."
The incident comes on the heels of a murder that occurred just two weeks ago when Jerry Denney, Jr. was found dead in his home at 200 Morton Street, which is less than a mile away from the Bond residence, but just outside the city. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation of this case.

BREAKING NEWS:
Jackson Murder Victim
Was Killed With His Own Pistol
October 29, 2008

Jackson Police are still working hard to determine who murdered Jackson resident Wilson C. Bond -- and why -- but they have now determined that his very own gun was used to kill him.
Jackson Police Chief Carl Eisnaugle reported Wednesday afternoon that the gun used to shoot and kill Bond about a month ago, a 32-caliber pistol, was turned into police about a week ago and was owned by Bond himself. Testing has since confirmed that this was definitely the murder weapon. That gun was not found at the murder scene or elsewhere on Bond's property immediately after the crime.
The body of the 64-year-old Bond was discovered inside his home at 57 Mound Street on Thursday, October 2. He had been shot multiple times and his body showed evidence of other "multiple forms of trauma." Jackson County Coroner Dr. Greg Hawker initially determined Bond already had been dead about a week. There was no sign of a forced entry to the house, any sign of a struggle or any indication that anything was stolen, except perhaps the gun used to commit the murder.
While the all-important murder weapon is in possession of police, Chief Eisnaugle says investigators still do not have a suspect in the case.

{BMW Comment: "No, I would imagine it was 'brought back to the residence' in time for the '13' week anniversary! It's not the first time that a killer has 'taken someone's gun,' and then put it back where he found it. Nor is it the first time someone has been murdered with thier own gun."}
December 2008 Update: Another man is shot to death in Jackson, during the 13th week from the Jerry Denny murder! Authorities believe it was suicide ..... was it? Was the 13 thing just another coincidence in this already unbelievably long string of coincidences within the deaths of all these men ..... and a fire at the home of another person named Denney?

Update:
Reward Offered In Bond Murder Case
By: PETE WILSON // Editor
4/28/2010:
Jackson resident Wilson Bond was brutally murdered more than a year and a half ago, but Jackson Police are still working to solve the case and bring his killer or killers to justice.
In a new attempt to obtain information, Jackson Police are featuring the case on the popular Southern Ohio Crime Stoppers Web site and a reward of up to as much as $2,000 is being offered for "the identification and arrest of the individual" who murdered the 64-year-old Bond in the fall of 2008.
The Crime Stoppers posting stated, "Additional information from the public is needed to proceed successfully with this case. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS."
On Thursday, October 2, 2008, police were dispatched to Bond's residence at 57 E. Mound St. where he was found dead, the victim of a brutal slaying in which he had been both shot and stabbed multiple times. Jackson County Coroner Dr. Greg Hawker's preliminary judgment was that Bond had been dead for about a week.
Robbery did not seem to be a motive as many things of value in the house were not stolen. Police later determined that the handgun used in the murder belonged to Bond. This gun was later turned in to police, but this development did not lead to an arrest.
"We're just hoping somebody will come forward with anything," Jackson Police Chief Carl Eisnaugle said of the Crime Stoppers reward.

BMW COMMENTS / 4/29/2010
I'm not sure this is of any value in any of the cases in Jackson, but, just in case -
Wild Bill and his girlfriend Cindy B. have 'friends' in Jackson, Ohio: Cindy B. is about 5' 4" tall, has long blond hair, was slim built at the time of these crimes and both are into 'skin flicks,' and possibly porn involving children and teenage girls. I know for a fact that Wild Bill is into child porn and from a story told to me by someone who should know, Cindy B. has no objections to many things that most of us would find disgusting.
In 2005 Cindy B. turned some tapes over to Parkersburg, West Virginia PD {Sgt. Ritchie} on which appeared two little girls of about 5 or 6 years of age. On the tapes, he could be heard telling the children to 'spread your legs way apart.' The pictures were 'crotch shots.' Nothing was ever done with this man, no matter what crimes he comitted.
All I know is, he carries a camera with him at all times and in recent years I've been told he has a cam corder and possibly a digital camera. He makes good money at his job -- but not nearly as much as he spends. I believe it is possible he is into making and selling porn tapes of children -- especially teenage girls.

Carl Bondurant

The Telegram OnLine.Com:
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is hoping that an autopsy will shed light in how a Jackson area man died whose body was found Saturday {Oct. 4, 2008} morning in a secluded outdoors location in Liberty Township.
Shortly after noon on Saturday, a hunter discovered the body of 54-year-old Carl Bondurant of Franklin Valley Road, Jackson. The dead man was found laying face down in some weeds in a field off Harrison Road, about 15 to 20 feet away from his parked car. The hunter checked out the scene because he noticed that one of the doors of the vehicle was standing open.
An investigator from the Jackson County coroner's office was called to the scene and the body was taken to the Franklin County coroner's office for an autopsy.
While the autopsy will hopefully yield some more concrete information, it is believed Bondurant had been dead for about two days. He had not been seen for about for about four to five days.
Investigators say there was no sign of foul play or any injuries to the body and the case is being treated as an unexplained death until the autopsy results are received.

JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – Investigators suspect that natural causes, likely a heart attack, claimed the life of a man whose body was found in a wooded area of Jackson County during the weekend.
Deputies said a hunter found Carl Bondurant's body surrounded by several empty bottles of alcohol. They said Bondurant had been dead for two days, his body found just 20 feet from his parked car.

10/10/08: Jackson Times-Journal: Preliminary autopsy results came back inconclusive in the death of Carl Bondurant, 54, whose body was found in a field off Harrison Road

{BMW Comment: As of December there has been no further word about Carl Bondurant. However, the 'mysterious' cases of men showing up dead in and around Jackson has continued. Perhaps they all died of 'natural causes,' I don't know ..... but there's one thing I do know --- and that's the fact that so far, all have been connected to the number 13 in one way or another. Quite strange for coincidence, as far as I'm concerned.}

Are there any common denominators or connections between the murders/deaths of Jerry Denny; Wilson Bond; Carl Bondurant and the July murder of Patrick Arnold's in Washington County, Ohio - just about an hour's drive from Jackson?

The Murder Of Patrick Arnold

My Comments
A few people have wondered if I saw any 'connections' between the murder of Patrick Arnold and the three men in Jackson.
Although the cases are basically a hundred miles apart, that would not necessarily mean that the same person could not have committed all four murders.
I have my own doubts that this is the case, but even so, I thought I'd compare the cases and just see if there were any denominators that might help law enforcement.
First of all I want to say that I cannot find anything that places any of the cases into my 42 day pattern that I discovered several years ago: Neither do they appear to fit into the 2.2 mile pattern.
That said, the similarities that I do see are the following.....
Three of the four men involved were definitely murdered. We can't say for sure that Mr. Bondurant was until autopsy reports are back.
Arnold, Bond and Wilson all lived alone and were killed in their own homes or on their own property {Patrick Arnold was on his front porch}.
We don't have much information about Bondurant, but if he too lived alone, then that makes 4 out of 4, which is a little odd ..... although it could be a coincidence.
Arnold and Bond were both shot in the chest, which is another oddity. Most people do not use a firearm when there are neighbors close enough to hear the shots. I wonder if a silencer was used. If so, then it would be even more odd that two different shooters would use a silencer. This almost makes one think of a 'mob hit' or something! A little odd for this area ..... but not out of the question, I suppose.
Denny was killed with a hammer, which again is a very odd way to kill a person. I agree with Dr. Hawker that whoever killed this man was extremely angry -- absolutely filled with rage, I would venture to guess.
Jackson and nearby areas have been having a lot of fires in the past few months, and I recall writing to John Winstanley years ago when I was working cases here in my area, and telling Winstanley that "the fires always come just before the murders." Of course, back then, I was talking about one certain man - whom I believed {and still do} was an arsonist and a serial killer. I thought he used the fires to try to divert his mind off of the next killing spree that he felt coming on.
If I was right, then it could be possible that Jackson, Ohio also has a killer who is also a fire bug.
I know my friend Sindee and I have often discussed how strange it is that the words ACE and SPARKY were spray painted on stop signs and elsewhere in Jackson almost every time there was a suspicious fire. It made us think of the fire departments mascot "Sparky" and someone whose nickname was Ace ..... Of course I'm well aware that anyone named Mason, Jason, etc., could easily be nicknamed Ace, but it still made us wonder if the arsonist wasn't giving law enforcement clues.
Of course I think the names BOND and BONDurant are just a little odd for coincidence - still, until we know what actually killed Bondurant, it's hard to consider it anything except a coincidence.
So, in conclusion -- or at least until we find out more about Bondurant .... all I can say is -- there are a few common denominators, and it is possible that the same man committed all of the crimes. Then again, it's possible that Jackson has sprouted 3 killers while Marietta {Washington County} has grown yet another one -- making us at least a dozen of them now!
Sincerely,
Bonnie M. Wells

Something Very Odd
I finished this page and got it posted on the night of ** October 9th, 2008. It was the 28th birthday of the son of the man whom I refer to as 'Wild Bill' on my web site. Many times I have also called this same man 'Billy Boy,' and if my readers want to see how he 'appears' to fit into some of the crimes, especially murders, in this {and surrounding} area, they are welcome to check out most of the cases listed in my Symbolic Case section. But for now, I will mention one story that can be found in the September section of my web site. It is titled - "The Real Dummy" - and deals with a homicide that most people believe is solved, but one that I continue to believe is not solved correctly!
So, after finishing this page and posting it I shut the computer down for the night and went to the kitchen to do the dinner dishes that were still waiting for me. I flipped the tv on in the kitchen and turned it to the Hallmark channel, just in time to catch the latter portion of 'Murder She Wrote,' which remains one of my favorite programs, even though all the episodes are re-runs that I've already seen at least twice. Still, I watch that, Mattlock, and the Waltons at every opportunity!
As I worked on the dishes, I listened to what was left of the episode - for about a minute, that is! Then I dried my hands and grabbed a piece of paper and began writing --
The main character was a ventriloquist named 'Billy Boy,' and his 'real dummy' that appeared to do all the talking for him.
Of course there was a killer in the movie - otherwise Jessica Fletcher wouldn't be able to write about it!
It seems this killer was 'killing men' {and since I didn't see the first part I don't know his reasoning} but he had killed one man by 'beating him in the head with a hammer,' and another one by 'shooting him.' He was after his third victim at this point, and had him held at gun point in a basement. The victim told the man that if one more dead person showed up inside, they were going to know he was the killer.
At this point the killer told the man that he was not going to kill him there, but that he {the victim} was going to 'drive his own car out in the country, where he would be killed and left.'
Of course on tv things go the way they should. The victim was wired and the cops arrived just as the killer was trying to force the victim into his vehicle .... and that was that.
However, the entire thing reminded me of the pages that I'd just gotten posted, because it was almost as if someone had seen that old episode and re-enacted it in Jackson, Ohio {and possibly in Marietta, Ohio too!}
Now I realize that it could all be coincidence {AGAIN} because it seems that's what it was back in 1996 when I raised seven kinds of hell about 'someone' re-enacting several stories that I had written for my column in the Washington County News - a little weekly news paper published in Belpre, Ohio back in the early 1990's.
No one paid any attention to me back in 1996, even though I tried to show everyone how the murders of Sheree Petry and Jenifer McCrady followed the script from my printed stories -- stories that 'Billy Boy' couldn't wait to get his hands on in 1991. And he read and re-read each one of them and kept several duplicate copies of each. He and I were the only people I knew who kept copies of the papers that had my stories in them. I knew my reasoning - it was my work. But I never could figure his out. All I ever knew was he said I was a good little writer.
Well, someone is a 'good little killer,' although I am not convinced it is 'Billy Boy' this time.
