More than 10 days after a 22-year-old college student went missing, police continue to search for the woman who virtually vanished from a downtown campus.
Kelly Nolan, a University of Wisconsin-Whitewater student who was planning to take advantage of part-time job opportunities at the university's main campus in Madison this summer, was last seen in the early morning hours of June 23 in the downtown area.
April Nolan, Kelly's sister, said that Kelly split up from friends around 11:30 p.m. on June 22. Kelly, said her sister, wanted to stay out longer, but her friends were anxious to leave. While the sisters did speak via telephone later that evening, Kelly's whereabouts from that point on remain a mystery.
Friends and family who know Kelly say that it's not like her to just disappear.
"She's so conscientious," April said in an interview with ABC News. "She would know that she would have hundreds of people worrying and wondering."
"She wouldn't just disappear," her sister said. "It's completely out of her character. She's responsible and has goals in her life."
April described her sister as "extremely social" and "very free-spirited." Kelly is on track to begin her final year in school as a communications major.
Joel DeSpain, the public information officer for the Madison Police Department, said that investigators were treating this like any other missing-person case, following leads called into the tip line and reviewing surveillance tapes from establishments to hunt for clues about where Kelly may be.
One of those places may be State Street Brats, a popular downtown bar that police say Kelly may have visited that Friday night.
Brats is located on Madison's State Street, the main drag that hosts most of the bars frequented by students. One of the most popular hangouts in the area, Brats has an outdoor patio and drink specials — and is known for Flip Night, where customers flip a coin to determine whether they will receive a discount price on their drink. The promotion never fails to attract swarms of college students on any given night.
Officers have also walked along the shore lines and conducted cursory dives in Lake Mendota, one of two lakes that surround the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. Lake Mendota's shores fall on the perimeter of UW-Madison's student union.
A body was found on July 9th. Positive identification of Kelly Nolan's murdered body came on July 11th.

My Comments
The last information that I heard on Fox News concerning Kelly's case, was that they were looking for her killer in Wisconsin, and didn't believe he was an 'out of state' person. Okay, perhaps they are right.
All I know is, I've seen cases in which it appears the killer was following something he'd read or seen before. I've watched the 'duplication' cases for years now, and continue to wonder -- how can there be this much coincidence? But, since I seem to be one of the few people who think it's possible that a serial killer is using things from his past in order to determine who and where his victims will be, it doesn't appear that anything will ever be done by authorities.
So, just to cover my own butt, and to make the information available - just in case anyone ever needs it -- here goes.
In 1992 I took my German Shepherd Dogs to my friend Judy's house so she could keep them for me while I went on a motor cycle trip with my husband [Mike] and a friend of ours [Wild Bill.]
Judy's initials are J.K.S. She lives in Marietta, Ohio, and knew Wild Bill and his family a long time before Mike and I ever met him.
On the morning of July 25th, 1992, we pulled out of my driveway on our Honda motor cycles, and headed for the Gold Wing Road Riders Association's 'Wing Ding' in Madison, Wisconsin. I remember it was held at the Civic Center, but for the life of me I cannot recall the street name.
It was the first time Mike and I had ever attended anything like that, and as far as I know it was Wild Bill's first 'big motor cycle' trip, as he called it.
We had only known 'Bill a couple of years at that point, and it was years ahead of the time when I'd come to question his 'extracurricular activities!' Even so, the second night we spent in Madison, he sneaked out in the middle of the night and went 'bar hopping!' In a strange town, where he knew no one! No one could have paid me enough money to go out into that city all alone .... and if I had done something like that, I'd probably still be there trying to find my way back to the convention center!! But not Wild Bill. He never seemed to have any trouble finding his way around strange towns.
In 1993 Wild Bill accompanied Mike and I to the Wing Ding in Louisville, Kentucky, and did the same thing there. Sneaked out and went -- God only knows where and did God only knows what -- and it was then that I told Mike there would be no more trips that included him. The man was a weirdo, and I didn't know what all he was doing, but it could not have been good -- otherwise, he wouldn't have wanted to be out alone, when everyone else was going places in groups.
By April of 1994 Wild Bill was no longer our friend. We'd discovered a small portion of the things he did when he was 'out alone,' and Mike and I wanted nothing more to do with him. I have spoken to the man twice since 1994 and Mike has not spoken to him at all. When we sever the ties, they are forever severed. Never the less, I've continued to document as much about the man's weird activities as possible because things just don't look right to me.
When Jessie Davis disappeared in Canton, Ohio [on Judy's birthday - 6-13] , I did some map searches and discovered it was the same driving time from Marietta, Ohio to Canton, as it was from Marietta to Jackson - where my friend Sindee Davis had received a strange phone call the very night that Jessie Davis was murdered. It turned out to be a coincidence [I guess] because Jessie's boyfriend [Bobby] Cutts confessed to burying her.
The case reminded me of the McCrady case, which occurred here in Washington County, Ohio in 1996. Jessie's case reminded several others of the McCrady case also.
Sindee Davis' birthday is June 25th. I've always warned cops to 'allow a three day spread, each direction' for a birthday strike. Sometimes, as in the Allison [Jackson]-Foy case, it's a direct hit [7-29], but sometimes it's not possible to get a victim on the precise date.
Jessie Davis' murdered body was found on [6-23] approximately [22] miles from her home. Little known at that time, national news would soon be picking up on another 'missing girl' case.... [22] year old Kelly Nolan disappeared on [6-23].
Of course the first thing I thought of was that old motor cycle trip to Madison, Wisconsin, and how the job Wild Bill has now days takes him far and wide as a crane and boat operator. And then I thought of where Wild Bill was living, and who he was renting from when we went on that trip. He rented a house in Belpre from his brother [Bob] and his wife [Kelly.]
I decided to do another map search. Google Maps said it was [623] miles from Marietta, Ohio to Madison, Wisconsin. Seemed a little strange to me, but then, so many of these missing person cases seem rather strange -- especially the ones where no killer is ever found -- perhaps because they always insist it's a 'local' killer. Then again, maybe it is. Maybe our nation is just overran with killers.
All I know for sure is ... Jessie Davis was killed on Judy's birthday, which coincidentally of course is the date chosen by Wild Bill and his girlfriend 'Cindy' {not the same woman as my friend Sindee} to move their house trailer to a location just outside of Marietta, Ohio.
And I know that Jessie begins with the letter [J] while Kelly begins with the letter [K], and I can only wonder if the next victim's name will start with an [S]. I guess time will tell, and then, so will I.
Meanwhile, I'll just tell everyone when the next strike dates are, and say a prayer for us all, because no one has any idea of where the next victim will be.
July strike dates remaining: 7-14: *7-17: 7-23: *7-29:
August strike dates: *8-03: 8-17: *8-25:
If the theme stays with Judy, the most important dates will be 7-17 and 8-03.
Hopefully, I'm wrong and it's all coincidence -- again.
Has there been another strike?
