LOUDONVILLE --
Ohio Division of Watercraft employees searched the Mohican River along Wally Road for a missing Lexington woman Friday. {December 21, 2007}
Officers said they looked in the murky water and shoreline, but found nothing.
Shortly after noon, four state watercraft officers stopped searching, packed up their equipment and boats and headed back to their Alum Creek headquarters.
"We searched about three and a half miles from the point where her vehicle was located," state watercraft officer Jeff Baker said Friday.
Baker, along with officers Kirk Tranchita, Carl Vance and Craig Watson, searched for Holly R. Metzger, also known as Holly Carruthers.
Lexington police said the case is being treated as a missing person report.
Metzger, 34, left home Monday and was seen at Wal-Mart and at service stations in the O'Possum Run Road area around 9:30 p.m.
Police had no new information to report Friday on the single mother of two children.
Mohican ranger Jerry Cunningham said officers from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources searched Thursday, with assistance from an Ohio Highway Patrol aircraft.
Metzger's car was found Tuesday morning near Ohio 3 and Ohio 97, near Loudonville.
Cunningham found the abandoned car and had it towed. Later, he spoke to Metzger's son, who told him his mother was missing.
Any person with knowledge of her location is asked to call the nearest law enforcement agency.
Christmas has come and gone and two children are still missing their mom. 34-year-old Holly Metzger (Also known as Holly Carruthers) went missing on December 17th from the Walmart Supercenter on O’Possum Run Road in Lexington, Ohio. It’s like a horror movie.”
“Holly’s a very good mom,” Risner said. “This is killing her kids, going through Christmas without her,” she said in a December 25th interview with the Mansfield News Journal.
Police say they are not ruling out the possibility of foul play.
Holly Metzger is described as a white female, 5ft. 2in tall, 138lbs. She has brown hair and green eyes and wears glasses.
